Teach Your Cat To Fist Bump

Teach Your Cat To Fist Bump

Welcome to Cat School!

We are so happy you are here to enrich your cat's life with training. Since creating the fist bump tutorial, hundreds of cats have learned to fist bump with this method. We know your cat can learn too. Let's start training!

Get your school supplies

You need:

A small, light container. A glass cup may frighten your cat when it flips over, and if the cup is too big, your cat may use their face instead of their paw to get the treat. I use the Mula stacking cups from Ikea.

Small high-value treats. If you feed your cat a dry food diet, consider switching your cat to a moisture-rich food, and use the dry food for training.

A clicker is a little device that makes a clicking sound. We use it as a marker to tell the cat they got the behaviour correctly, and a treat is coming. We provide all the necessary school supplies in our training kit. While you wait for your supplies, substitute the clicker with the verbal cue "YES!".

*Sales of our kits support all of our content creation on YouTube and Instagram. By purchasing training tools from us you are helping us spread our message and improve cat's lives. We appreciate your support.

Step 1:

When your cat is attentive, place the treat in the container. As soon as your cat uses their paw to get the treat out. Click (or say "YES!") and feed your cat the reward.

Step 2:

Repeat Step 1 while holding the cup in your hand.

Step 3:

Cover the cup with your hand. Click (or say "YES!"), then reward when your cat’s paw targets your hand instead of the cup. Repeat without the food in the cup.

Step 4:

Remove the cup and turn your hand into a fist. Click (or say "YES!"), then reward when your cat’s paw targets your hand.

Meet Your Teachers

I'm Julie, the cat teacher, and this is my assistant, Jones. Our goal is to create cat training tutorials that are fun and easy for EVERY cat to learn. Thousands of students have learned from our clicker training lessons and proven that not only are cats trainable but that they love the enrichment and activity that training provides. We can't wait to see you show off all the skills and tricks your cat learns at Cat School.
